Michael’s career has focused over the years towards rights of light, expert witness and other legal work, commercial pre-acquisition surveys, building pathology, dilapidations and party structures disputes. Michael deals with large and small scale project work, monitoring projects for banks and planning work. He has a particular interest and expertise in Rights of Light and related planning matters as well as legal work both in and out of court. He is currently co-authoring a new text-book on Urban Light.

In his spare time, Michael is an experienced archer, having served as chairman of Guildford Archery Club for a number of years. He is a keen motorcyclist and volunteer carrying emergency items for the NHS at night. He has served as a secondary school Governor for twelve years, ten of them as chairman of the Premises Committee.
